s[p]lice house technical drawings - construction photos
A simple idea : to design and build a single-family house appropriating as 'found' the language of the typical developers' box here on an infill lot in a deed-restricted neighborhood. Working within parameters of the typical American subdivision, this project seeks to develop an exterior expression and interior spaces that are appropriate, meaningful, and tuned to the way a couple with a small child live in today's environment of ever faster and more efficient living by way of internalizing the interstitial or "between space" into the central body of the house.
The s[p]lice house received a prestigious AIA design award in the Spring of 2007 and the jury was recorded commenting favorably.
